Over the summer I also read a book called Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. This book is about two girls named Tally and Shay. When they turn 16 they will not be "ugly" anymore... They become "pretty" through an operation done on your sixteenth birthday. Shay decides that she does not want to become pretty and runs away to a place where several uglies have traveled to get out of the surgery. This place is called the Smoke. When Shay leaves she invites Tally to come along but Tally decided to stay and become pretty. Well the day that Tally went to have the surgery she was taken to another building where the "specials" work. They told her that if she did not go to the Smoke and lead them there to find the uglies that ran away, she could not become pretty. She gets to the Smoke and changes her mind about leading the specials there and decides that she just wants to stay in the Smoke and be an ugly for life. The specials find out and arrive and take all of the uglies away. Tally goes through quite an adventure to save her friends from the specials. It is a really great book! I loved this book because of all of the adventure in it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys adventurous novels. I would give it an A because it was just such a great story and there is a sequel that I can't wait to read! Anybody that loves adventure and cliff-hangers would love this book! It is great!
Over the summer I read a book called Stuck In Neutral by Terry Trueman. This book was a great story about a boy with cerebral palsy. His father and mother are divorced because his father couldn't handle being around his son in that condition. His father thinks that he is suffering but his son cannot communicate with him to let him know that he is not. He thinks that his father is going to kill him. The whole story is written by the boy and is in his point of view. It is really a great book! I loved this book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I really loved that it was kind of a mystery. You never knew what was going to happen next so you just had to keep reading and reading and reading! I definitely give it an A+!!! I think that any person that likes mysterious books with cliff-hangers at the end of each chapter would love to read this book. It is truly one of my favorites!
